How to Apply
Southeast Health Transitional Year offers 12 PGY-1 positions each year. These appointments are awarded through the National Residency Match Program (NRMP).
Step 1: Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS)
ERAS collects the following information:
- Curriculum Vitae
- Medical School Transcripts
- USMLE Licensure Exam Transcripts (Required)
- Medical School Performance Evaluations (Dean’s Letter)
- Minimum of 3 Letters of Recommendation
- Personal Statement
- ECFMG Certificate (if applicable)
After you select our program code, the application is available to our department electronically, for review.
Please visit the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) to start your application.
Step 2: Interview Invitations
An invitation for an interview will be sent out beginning October 1, 2024 through the ERAS scheduling system. Applicants will have 72 hours to respond to the interview invitation before it will be offered to another candidate. Rolling interview invitations will continue until December 30, 2024 for those placed on our waitlist.
Candidates not initially invited for an interview will begin receiving an email between October 16, 2024 and January 8, 2025 indicating their application status (waitlist or rejected).
Applicants are selected for interviews based on a selection rubric which involves various aspects of each application. During this busy time of year, phone calls will not be accepted, please email if you have questions regarding your application or the interview process.
Step 3: The Interview
Interviews will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays
- October 22nd
- November 5th
- December 3rd
- January 16th

Ravi Nallamothu, MD will welcome applicants and introduce leadership team.
Individual Interviews
Each applicant will participate in two separate interviews.
Interview Day
Morning interview sessions begin via Zoom at 8:00 am central time and will conclude by 12:00 pm Central time.
Afternoon interview sessions begin via Zoom at 1:00 pm central time and will conclude by 5:30 pm Central time.
Facility Tour
A tour of the hospital and GME clinic will be given to applicants when they are not interviewing.
Step 4: The Match
All PGY-1 positions are offered through the National Residency Match Program (NRMP).
The department follows the policies and agreements set by the NRMP.
