Steven F. Johnson, MD, FACS

Dr. Johnson is a Montgomery native who completed a residency in general surgery at the University of Kentucky Medical Center, where he also served as a research fellow and was chief resident in general surgery. He completed a second residency in cardiothoracic surgery at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. He was also a research fellow in cardiothoracic surgery at the University of Iowa.
Dr. Johnson received his medical degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He graduated Auburn University with a bachelor’s degree in physical sciences.
He is double board certified in surgery and cardiothoracic surgery. Dr. Johnson performs more than 300 thoracic surgeries annually, including coronary artery bypass grafting, carotid endarterectomy, heart valve repairs and replacements, aortic surgeries, pneumonectomies, lobectomies and other procedures.
He has two children and enjoys hunting, fishing and boating.
