Southeast Health Medical Center Clinic now seeing patients
The region’s only Internal Medicine residency clinic is now open in a newly renovated building at 1806 Fairview Avenue on the Southeast Health campus. Southeast Health Medical Center Clinic is a residency-run outpatient practice where new internal medicine physicians provide comprehensive patient care.
The clinic’s design includes natural light and exam chairs, instead of tables, to provide a more patient-centered experience.
The care of patients is coordinated through clinic medical director Juanita Heersink, MD, Internal Medicine/Geriatrics. The Medical Center Clinic is in the Southeast Health Medical Group, which is the region’s largest network of primary care and specialty care clinics.
The new physicians are part of the Southeast Health General Medical Education (GME) department’s accredited three-year internal medicine residency program. The clinic allows residents to hone their skills providing outpatient care for chronic disease management, as well as patient-centered preventative care. The clinic features a care team model, in which all members of a physician-led team are involved in providing patient care.
The Medical Center Clinic also includes Employee Health for Southeast Health team members. The clinic is conveniently located for medical center team members who do not currently have an internal care physician and would like to utilize walk-in or primary care services provided by medical residents.
You can make an appointment or walk-ins are welcome. To schedule an appointment, call 334-712-3331. The clinic is open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m. The clinic accepts Medicare and most major insurances. For more information, go to www.southeasthealth.org/medical-center-clinic.
