Changes to the Houston County Health Care Authority Board
Southeast Health is pleased to welcome two new members to the Houston Health Care Authority as we thank two long tenured members who oversaw unprecedented growth during their years of service.
Donavon L. Wewers, MD, internal medicine, and Neil Holloway, owner of Brian Holloway Carpet One in Dothan, were selected to six-year terms by the Houston County Commission Tuesday.
Dr. Wewers, who joined Dothan Medical Associates in Dothan in 2003, has served in numerous leadership roles at the Medical Center, including past president of the Medical Staff from 2015 to 2017. He was a member of the hospital board when he served as president of the Medical Staff.
Holloway, a Dothan native, is a second-generation owner of Brian Holloway. He has more than 30 years’ experience as a successful businessman in the flooring industry.
Holloway is replacing former Dothan Mayor and current real estate appraiser Chester Sowell on the board. Sowell has given 25 years of volunteer service to the health system. The last nine years he served as board chairman.
Dr. Wewers is taking the seat held by Walter C. Young, MD. Dr. Young is a well-respected retired OB/GYN who practiced at Women’s Medical Center in Dothan for almost 40 years. Dr. Young has also held numerous leadership roles at the Medical Center including past president of the Medical Staff. He has volunteered on the board since 2005.
